Since we were traveling over Easter this year, we chose to celebrate both Jesus Triumphant Entry and Easter this past weekend.

First we colored pictures (drawn by Ashley) of little children with their Palm branches. We also bought our very own Plam tree! :D
Next we took turns coloring our Easter eggs different colors.
We followed this by making Jewish/English Paxx Cakes.
We then rounded out our Celebrations by eating our Paxx Cakes and Figs while Papai told us the wonderful story of Easter.

Last week we...

For those who may be curious, we are currently on the road and will be headed homeward first of next week. May you each have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Do you know why the date for Easter is different each year?

The gospels tell us that Christ's death and resurrection took place during Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the sacred commemoration of Israel's deliverance from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 12:1-17). Passover is a festival that always falls on the evening of the fourteenth day of the Hebrew month of Nisan. The Feast of Unleavened Bread follows immediately on 15 Nisan and lasts seven days. Although Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread are separate festivals, they have usually been considered to be a single multi-day observance. Therefore, the gospel of John refers to Passover as the "Day of Preparation" and the Feast of Unleavened Bread as a "High Day Sabbath" (John 19:31). The ancient Hebrew calendar is based on twelve lunar months, which is a total of approximately 354 days -- 11 days short of the full cycle of the seasons. Passover must fall in the spring because that is the time of year that lambs are mature enough to slaughter for the feast (Exodus 12:5). To keep the month of Nisan in the spring, a 13th month is added to the Hebrew calendar every three years or so. The result is that Passover always begins in the March/April timeframe but on a different day each year. Since the date of Passover is moveable, the date of Easter, which was originally based on Passover, is also moveable.

Prayer to the Resurrected Christ who Saves Us
O Jesus, King,
receive my supplication,
and consider my supplication,
as a pledge to You.
For you, O living King,
have gone forth and gone up,
out of Hell,
as Conqueror.

Woe to those who have rejected you;
For, to evil spirits and demons,
You are sorrow,
to Satan and to Death,
You are pain,
To Sin and Hell,
You are mourning.

Yet, joy has come today,
for those who are born anew.
On this great day therefore,
We give great glory to You,
who died and is now alive,
that to all you may give
life and resurrection!

I have been meaning to sit down and post the Palmer current events since Friday past... Well, we will attempt to do so now at least to some extent!

1. Seuss Party!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss Birthday all week long and on Friday we partied all day!

2. Shapes by Eric Carl:
Big and little chalk shapes of every color- Making big and litte garlic circles-Practicing colors and tearing paper with Papai followed by gluing torn paper pieces to a rectangular milk carton and planting herbs for our windowsills.

3. Sunny afternoons in the park:
We have had several sunny afternoons this week and have joyfully spent them at local parks. Aydon is 5 months old now and this is a picture of his first stroller ride. The last picture is of our two daugters and absolutely takes my breathe away! It is the perfect picture of pure beauty and innocence the way it is supposed to be.

Dare You To Move?!

This song is dedicated to our brother/son Austin who, like Lot's wife on a cool Autumn day, looked back from the Miracle, never again to move. Heart unmend by sins' inconsistence. Footprints stained by the soil of least resistance. Staring out at past sins sealed in eyes wide shut.
Austin, your loved ones see you frozen there, blind to the Love they have to share.
Austin, your now is not about your used to be, its about choosing to Live Today. Love Eternal,
Mom

Dare You to Move
Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next
What happens next

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move
I dare you to move...

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move...

Week Two of Reading Awareness Month!

As I mentioned last week, March is Reading Awareness Month. Last week we focused on Dr. Seuss' works of literary genius and had a really fun time. (I will be posting those pictures next) Please continue to "journey with us" as we share several of our families favorite authors, sites and chosen works of literature. Please share yours as well; we are always looking for great authors and literary works yet unexplored!

"Eric Carle is acclaimed and beloved as the creator of brilliantly illustrated and innovatively designed picture books for very young children.

The secret of Eric Carle’s books’ appeal lies in his intuitive understanding of and respect for children, who sense in him instinctively someone who shares their most cherished thoughts and emotions."

Reading in general and as a family is one of our families favorite past times. Each month we purchase a family book based either on a celebration of said month or a topic of interest and when possible we combine both. We were able to combine both with this book.

Each page is divided in half with a shape on the top half and picture on the bottom half. You then choose a shape and match it with a picture.

I will be posting pictures of our activities for this book throughout the week, so check back often!

For more information regarding author Eric Carle as well as a wealth of teaching ideas and resources click here.

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Researchers have uncovered a rare photograph of a young Helen Keller with her teacher Anne Sullivan, nearly 120 years after it was taken on Cape Cod...Experts on Keller's life believe it could be the earliest photo of the two women together and the only one showing the blind and deaf child with a doll...the photograph is valuable because it shows many elements of Keller's childhood: that devotion, Sullivan's push to teach Helen outdoors and Helen's attachment to her baby dolls, one of which was given to her upon Sullivan's arrival as her teacher."CNN

March 3rd was Write A Letter of Appreciation Day!

Posted by Neugier

There are so many people I appreciate that to write them all would be near impossible so I have decided to give myself 10 minutes and compile a list with one thing I appreciate about as many people as come to mind.

Start:

Miles- your integrity
Ashley- how you consistently strive to be true to yourself
Austin- your willingness to “jump right in”
Abby- your pure love of life
Aydon- your awareness
Helena- your honesty
Junior- your gentleness
Beth- the countless 1:00, 3:00 phone calls “just to help me stay awake” :D
Auntie Deb- the way you live your life
Missy- your honesty
Aunt Joan- the warmth of your home
Tia Maria- your relationship with Christ
Momma- your strength –“…which comes from the hills”
Cheryl- your willingness to evaluate life and yourself honestly
Kelly- the way you think of others
Angela- the way you are able to recognize the need of others
Andrea-your eye for perfection
Dad- the bottomless ocean of love inside of you
Mother- your ability to help others
Phyllis- your realistic approach to life
Stephanie- the way you accept what you can not change and make the most of every situation
Grandma Haynes- your prayers
Grandma Hotchkiss- your openness
Aunt Jill- your gentle spirit
Kimberly and Ardel- the way you speak the Truth in and through LOVE
Aunt Debbie- your natural ability to entertain and make so many “feel right at home”
Bob and Joan- your journey and transparency
Shawn- your genuineness
Chris- the way you continue to live life each day never forgetting yesterday but making the most of today and embracing all your tomorrows.

10:27sec.

That was harder than I expected! And please, if you are looking for your name and do not find it on this list, realize there are only so many seconds in every 10 min. and way too many people to list them all. It is not as easy as it may seem to choose one thing you appreciate about someone, when there are so many things from which to choose.

It is our personal and family prayer that our "Abba Daddy will govern every detail of every relationship we have. We ask to be introduced to those He would have in our lives and to be separated from those He does not wish to have in our lives." Beware: this is truly a life altering prayer when prayed in sincerity.

Thank you for being a part of our lives and may our Abba Daddy bless you according to His perfect will.

This day is celebrated by disc jockeys, TV hosts, movie stars, department store announcers, rock groups, politicians and many, many others. For it was on this day in 1877 that Emile Berliner, the man behind so many inventions, came up with a thing called the microphone. Good thing, too, because the Bell System, run by Alexander Graham Bell, was in desperate need of something to save it from financial ruin -- and to help the progress of the telephone.

1917 Republican Jeanette Rankin of Montana took her seat as the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

1933: U.S. President Roosevelt gave his inauguration speech in which he said "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself."

1942 - Shirley Temple had a starring role in Junior Miss on CBS radio this day. The show, heard for the first time, cost $12,000 a week to produce and stayed on the airwaves until 1954.

1990 - US 65th manned space mission STS 36 (Atlantis 6) returns from space

1997 - Brazil Senate allows women to wear slacks
